About Us
Established in 1982, Wigan Wholefoods has always been a family-run business. With a health food sales background, Husband and wife duo, Tony and Susan Hodgson, decided to go it alone and began the story of Wigan Wholefoods.
Whilst raising a young family and with little resources, Tony created a workspace in his garage at the rear of his property using only a new bath tub and a set of scales as his working equipment and from those humble beginnings, Tony and Sue never looked back.
Quickly the business expanded, as did the premises and the workforce and in the summer of 1999, David, Son of Tony and Sue, and best friend Paul, started a summer job working at the warehouse and they never left!
Fast forward to December 2015, after losing our special Susan, Tony retired leaving his years of knowledge and experience to David and his wife, Natalie. Wigan Wholefoods Limited was born, as was our new slogan “New vines from strong roots”.
Between our staff we now have over 100 years of experience in the wholefoods business and have never ever let go of those humble beginnings.
Nationwide Delivery
Our own vans deliver on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis and cover areas as far south as Bournemouth and as far north as Newcastle.
Third-party pallet carriers cover the rest of the UK for us.

Environment
Whilst we are still required to follow food grade standard packaging, every effort is made to reduce plastic where possible.
Over the past two years we have reduced our breakfast cereal plastic packaging by 90% by packing into paper bags as opposed to plastic bags and we have started the same move on our pastas too. Whilst we still have a long way to go to make this same move on all of our stock, we do have a paper option available for most of our products.
We also now have a waste returns policy in place so with every item that we deliver to our customers, we agree to take back our packing and recycle where possible at our local smart waste company thus saving much needed space in our customers stock rooms and recycling in bulk so we all win!
